Why Trump Cancelled His Latest Rally

(PresidentialInsider.com)- Former President Donald Trump was scheduled to appear in an American Freedom Tour rally on Friday, July 15 in Greensboro, North Carolina. But that rally was canceled at short notice since Trump, along with his children Ivanka and Don Junior, are scheduled to give depositions in New York on the same day.

The Greensboro event was initially announced in May. In addition to the former president, speakers scheduled to appear were Donald Trump Junior, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Judge Jeanine Pirro, Arizona Sheriff Mark Lamb, and Dinesh D’Souza.

Court filings last week revealed that the depositions in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ ongoing effort to “get Trump” had been scheduled to begin on July 15 unless the New York appeals court intervened to stop them.

Trump’s attorneys had been fighting the subpoenas for months, arguing that the attorney general’s office intended to use the sworn depositions for a separate criminal investigation. However, the four-judge panel from the appellate division of New York’s trial court said the two investigations were not related.

The American Freedom Tour did not publicly announce that Friday’s rally had been canceled. Instead, it quietly removed the rally listing from its website.

A local Raleigh newspaper contracted tour officials who apologized for the “unforeseen circumstances” that forced them to reschedule the tour stop in Greensboro.

According to tour officials, those who already purchased a ticket for the July 15 rally, which sold for as little as $9 to as much as $3,955, would be receiving detailed information via email. Once the event is rescheduled, those who registered to attend will receive an email notifying them of the new date.
