(PresidentialInsider.com)- It’s been pretty entertaining watching the Biden administration struggle to find the perfect messaging to make excuses for killing US energy production, ushering in 40-year high inflation, and making hash of the US economy.
Much like its difficulty in landing on consistent messaging for COVID, the White House just can’t make up its mind on messaging over the skyrocketing price of gas.
Over the last couple of weeks, the White House has made several attempts to deny reality, pass off blame, and flat-out lie about the effects its energy policies have had on gas prices.
Last week, they tried to claim Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was responsible for the rise in gas prices that began after the 2020 election of Joe Biden.
The #PutinPriceHike talking point fell flat, however. So now, the White House is back to blaming greedy energy companies and accusing them of “price-gouging.”
Last Thursday, the White House Twitter account offered up a thread explaining that, contrary to reality, the Biden administration has done nothing to hinder US oil or natural gas production.
To sell this fiction, the White House included a nifty graph that shows how over the last 30 years, the US went from importing more natural gas than it exported to becoming a net exporter of natural gas.
Problem is, the nifty graph only goes from 1990 until 2020.
In other words, the graph promoted by the Biden White House to make the case that Biden isn’t doing anything to harm US energy production stops before Joe Biden became President of the United States.
Yes, the graph is accurate. After Donald Trump became President, the United States was exporting more natural gas than it was importing. For the first time in our nation’s history, we became a net exporter of energy thanks to Donald Trump.
But Joe Biden put an end to it when he began to choke off the US energy sector. And that is precisely why the nifty graph doesn’t include 2021.
Just as they did with the COVID vaccines, this administration is trying to take credit for something that happened under Donald Trump.
This gives a whole new meaning to the term “gaslighting.”
