(PresidentialInsider.com)- One of the latest anti-Trump books to come over the transom includes inside information about former President Donald Trump’s relationship with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady.
The book, “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future,” is from New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns with whom Trump granted an interview in April 2021 at Mar-a-Lago.
Why Trump keeps agreeing to sit down with leftwing reporters writing books attacking him is anybody’s guess.
But in the interview with Martin and Burns, Trump talked about how Bill Belichick crawled back to him after he “chickened out” and refused to accept the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Trump in the wake of the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
In their book, Martin and Burns make it clear they think Trump was lying when he said that Belichick “hugged me and kissed me,” writing that the claim stretched credulity for anyone familiar with Belichick’s gruff manner.
Another bizarre nugget from the book was how Trump’s famous friendship with quarterback Tom Brady “soured” after Brady married supermodel Gisele Bundchen and started eating healthy.
Martin and Burns quote Trump saying that the quarterback wasn’t the same after he married Gisele, with the authors adding a side note that Gisele insisted on keeping Brady on a strict “health-conscious diet.”
Ah, yes. They “soured” because Brady didn’t eat McDonald’s.
Sports Illustrated took delight in the revelation that Trump was bothered by Brady’s diet, publishing the segment from the book and adding lots of anti-Trump comments mocking the former President’s fast-food eating habits.
Sports Illustrated also mocked the revelation from the book that Trump once hoped Brady would marry his daughter Ivanka.
