Sanders DEFENDS Rioters, Claims Trump Had Them “Viciously Attacked”

( Failed presidential candidate Bernie Sanders might be out of the race, but he hasn’t gone anywhere. The far-left socialist Senator for Vermont claimed on Monday that President Donald Trump ordered the police to “viciously” attack “protesters in Lafayette Park. Sanders argued that the protesters were peaceful and that the use of force was unnecessary, despite the fact that the protesters refused to move.

When protesters refuse to move…police are required to use force.

“Trump just had peaceful demonstrators viciously attacked,” Sanders said on Twitter. “No, Mr. President. This is not a dictatorship. This is the United States of America. Our citizens have a constitutional right to peacefully protest. It’s called the First Amendment.”

Sanders did not, however, give an example of when the president said that people do not have a right to peacefully protest. In the speech given on the White House lawn just prior to Sanders’ outburst, the president specifically said that he supports the right to peacefully protest. He even described himself as an “ally” of all peaceful protesters across the country.

Perhaps some readers of this news article may wish to ask Senator Sanders what evidence he has that the president opposes the right to peacefully protest.

The protesters Sanders was talking about were gathered around Lafayette Square near the White House. According to Philip Wegmann, the White House Correspondent at RealClearPolitics, those protesters were warned by the police three times over loudspeaker to clear the area. They didn’t listen.

If the police tell protesters to move, and they don’t move, is it peaceful? If they fight when the police insist they move, are they peaceful?
