(PresidentialInsider.com)- After it was uncovered that apparel from its LGBTQ-themed “Pride Collection” fashion line was actually created in China — “one of the world’s greatest human rights abusers,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign pointed out the hypocrisy of the Walt Disney Co.
A DeSantis spokesman said that it’s hypocritical, but not surprising, that a woke company like Disney would threaten the rights of Florida parents while happily doing business with the Chinese Communist Party – one of the world’s worst human rights abusers.
One of those pieces is produced from 100 percent cotton, which may have been supplied from slave-labor zones in China, but it remains uncertain.
The rainbow-themed goods may also be seen in the Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars Pride Collection collection aimed at kids and families. Disney is donating all revenues from the Disney Pride Collection sales to organizations that help LGBTQIA+ adolescents and families.
Not only may Disney benefit from slave labor, but the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is anti-LGBT, prohibiting displays of “gay” conduct and classifying homosexuality as a mental illness. Ironically, many of the same people who promoted the false narrative surrounding Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) Parental Rights in Education Bill, which restricts classroom-led discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity for children in kindergarten through third grade, appear to be fully behind Disney’s opposition to the law — the same Disney that has its Pride Collection clothing made in anti-LGBT China.
Indeed, Disney sticks to its guns, pledging to battle to abolish the law. As a result, Florida legislators stripped Disney of its self-governing authority.
Disney’s evident hypocrisy has long been a topic of contention for DeSantis. The governor emphasized the hypocrisy of the awakened firm’s moral outrage. At the same time, it continued to pad its coffers from its partnership with the CCP when the company stated its objection to the Parental Rights in Education Bill.
DeSantis said he also believes that firms like Disney will say and attack parental rights — they’ll oppose the fact that we don’t want transgenderism in kindergarten and first-grade classes. How can they justify padding their coffers with their ties with the Communist Party of China?
Because that’s what they do, and they earn a fortune doing it, and they don’t say anything about the CCP’s exceedingly terrible methods over there.
DeSantis said If they had put a bill in place that said you couldn’t have a curriculum that covered the mistreatment of the Uyghurs in China, Disney would have embraced it in a heartbeat — and that’s the irony of it.
