(PresidentialInsider.com)- During a speech to business leaders in Moscow last Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin condemned the populations of Western countries, describing them as the “golden billion.”
He demanded to know why this “golden billion” is permitted to dominate the rest of the globe and “impose its own rules of behavior.”
This “golden billion” has divided the world into first and second-class people, the Russian president said, adding that it is “essentially racist and neocolonial.”
Putin blasted globalists and their “pseudo-liberal ideology” which he said has become more totalitarian while “restraining creative endeavor and free historical creation.”
Putin accused Western leaders of not being able to offer the world its “model of the future.” He said the West’s dominance on the world stage has come from “the robbery of other peoples both in Asia and in Africa.”
Accusing Western global elites of being “terribly afraid” that other parts of the world “may present their own options for development,” Putin warned that no matter how hard the West strives to preserve the existing order, “a new era is coming, a new stage in world history.”
Putin added that only “truly sovereign states” are capable of achieving “high growth dynamics.”
Although the Russian president made no mention of the ongoing war in Ukraine, it is clear his speech was in part a repudiation of the West’s collective response to his invasion.
While most in the West have probably never heard the term “golden billion” before, in Russia, this Soviet-era term has been around for decades to describe the coming battle for resources between Mother Russia and the world’s global Western elite.
Since the invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin has been using this “golden billion” theory to make the case that Russia’s isolation by the West wasn’t the result of Moscow’s actions, but part of the inevitable global elite’s fight against it.
