Ocasio-Cortez Tells “Moderate” Democrat To Take A Seat

(PresidentialInsider.com)- Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who by the way is not a member of the US Senate, is really angry with Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema. Ocasio-Cortez wants Sinema to either comply with her demands to abolish the filibuster or AOC will see to it she faces a primary challenger in 2024.

In a histrionic tweet last week, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that Congress “could protect Roe tomorrow” if it weren’t for that pesky Kyrsten Sinema’s refusal to destroy the Senate filibuster. AOC doesn’t want to hear from Sinema on “women’s access to health care” unless she changes her mind on the filibuster. Until she does, the bossy mid-wit explained, Sinema can “take a seat.”

Until Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez runs and wins a seat in the US Senate, maybe she should take a seat when it comes to Senate rules.

In a statement last week, Senator Sinema said that abortion should be a choice between a woman, her family, and her doctor. She added that in the past decade the Senate has added protections to safeguard abortion.

But because Sinema draws the line at destroying the Senate filibuster to get it done, AOC has declared her persona non grata.

Sinema’s arguments in defense of the filibuster are sensible ones. Ridding the Senate of the 60-vote threshold would create, in Sinema’s words, “wild swings in federal policy” depending on which party is in the majority.

The United States Senate is the place for measured deliberative debate, something Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knows nothing about. Killing the filibuster would destroy that and Sinema knows it.

In her huffy tweet, Ocasio-Cortez said everyone who refuses to obey her radical demands must be held accountable including “GOP & Dem obstructionists,” saying of Sinema, “She should be primaried.”

Yeah, good luck with that Alexandria.

Arizona isn’t Ocasio-Cortez’s NYC district. And while the Democrats will no doubt seek to oust both Kyrsten Sinema and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin in 2024, not only would it do no good in the here and now, their primary challengers would likely be wasting a whole lot of time and money.
