(PresidentialInsider.com)- For all the media babble about the so-called Republican Civil War, the true civil war is happening within the Democrat House caucus – between the Far-Left “Democratic Socialist” Squad and the swing-district Democrats.
Despite being named the least effective legislator by the Center for Effective Lawmaking, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes she has earned her right to throw her weight around. And when it comes to the dual infrastructure bills, this least effective legislator is acting as if she’s the one in charge.
Last Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to blast moderate Democrats who are skittish about forcing through a $3.5 trillion spending package on Democrat votes alone.
Griping to her slacked-jawed Twitter followers about these skittish moderates, Ocasio-Cortez snapped that these Democrats who are threatening “to tank the President’s agenda” aren’t moderate, but Conservative.
Then again when you’re further left than Mao, any moderate will look conservative.
What Ocasio-Cortez can’t understand is that not every Democrat House member lives in an ultra-blue, hipster borough of New York. What may play well for Alexandria’s constituents probably won’t play well for a Democrat in Indiana, Ohio, Missouri or anywhere else outside of America’s deep, blue cities.
Ocasio-Cortez, who has served in Congress for more than three and a half years, still does not understand that the purpose of a Representative is to represent the constituents. Her “My Way or the Highway” attitude may explain why she is the least effective legislator in Congress.
While she can vote for a $3.5 trillion boondoggle and face zero consequences back at home, Democrats from swing districts will find holy hell unleashed on them by the people they are obligated to represent.
Two weeks ago, moderate House Democrats wrote a letter to Nancy Pelosi urging her to move ahead with the Senate’s “bipartisan” infrastructure bill without waiting on the boondoggle bill which they believe requires further discussion due to its massive, bloated price tag.
For doing that, Ocasio-Cortez pitched a fit on Twitter (because where else?) accusing the moderate Democrats of trying to “blow up the infra deal.” Without a hint of self-awareness, the Congresswoman from deep-blue NYC pointed out that “the US is more than handful of suburbs.” Yes, but the US isn’t all deep-blue NYC either.
