Not Charging Trump Will ‘Destroy’ Legitimacy of US Institutions: Kirschner

( Former United States Army prosecutor Glenn Kirschner claimed that not prosecuting former President Donald Trump for unspecified crimes will “destroy” the legitimacy of America’s institutions.

Writing on Twitter, Kirschner claimed that not holding the former president “accountable for his crimes” would destroy America.

“DECLINING to hold Trump accountable for his crimes in light of the overwhelming evidence would be a political calculation,” he said. “It would also would make a mockery of honest, law-abiding politicians & destroy the legitimacy of the institutions of American government. This is an easy call.”

Is it an easy call, though? Kirschner provided absolutely no evidence to back up his claims that the former president has committed any claims – which probably shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that he is an analyst for NBC and MSNBC.

Former President Donald Trump has been accused by Democrats of plotting and inciting a violent insurrection on January 6, 2021, on Capitol Hill. However, no evidence has yet shown that the former president wanted or endorsed violence or an insurrection on that day. It is unclear, therefore, what Kirschner wants Trump to be held accountable for.

Last week, far-left Attorney General Merrick Garland told NPR that “everyone” who committed crimes relating to the January 6 riot last year will be held accountable – and while some took this as a sign that Garland is preparing to indict Trump, others recognized that he is probably talking about the people who actually committed crimes that day.

“We are not avoiding cases that are political or cases that are controversial or sensitive,” he told NPR.

If he meant that Trump was going to be prosecuted, however, he would probably say it.

They desperately want to stop Trump from running again in 2024, but with no evidence of wrongdoing, they can’t do anything.
