Newsmax Opposes Vaccine Mandate

( In an editorial published on its website on Sunday, conservative outlet Newsmax outlined its planned COVID-related employee guidelines and condemned the Biden administration’s OSHA rule mandating businesses require vaccination or testing as a condition of employment.

Calling the OSHA rule, “dangerous overreach of the federal government,” Newsmax expressed its opposition to Biden’s actions and announced that it will not impose a vaccine mandate, nor will it require vaccination as a condition of employment.

Instead, Newsmax will allow its employees to choose whether or not to get vaccinated. Those who decided against receiving the COVID vaccine will be required to undergo weekly testing which the company will provide on-site and at no charge.

These guidelines from Newsmax mirror the OSHA requirements.

The network reiterated that no Newsmax employee will be compelled to get vaccinated, nor will Newsmax terminate anyone who refuses the vaccine.

The rule imposed by OSHA requires all private companies to either have employees vaccinated or undergo weekly COVID testing. Any employer who does not comply faces stringent fines from OSHA for each infraction.

Over the weekend, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the OSHA rule. In its decision, the three-judge panel cited “grave statutory and constitutional issues” with the OSHA mandate.

Twenty-three states along with many private sector companies have already filed lawsuits challenging the OSHA rule. In its statement, Newsmax confirmed that it is monitoring the lawsuits and exploring its own legal options.

Calling the administration’s mandates “an unprecedented power grab,” Newsmax argues that voluntary vaccinations are working and many states already report vaccination rates of 70 percent or more.

The editorial also defended the role the vaccines have played in reducing COVID cases in the US, calling them “safe and effective.” The editorial also encouraged Americans to get vaccinated, especially those at higher risk.

In defending the vaccines, the editorial cited several of Newsmax’s own unvaccinated personnel who have died of COVID – including Herman Cain, and radio hosts Dick Farrel, Phil Valentine, and Mark Bernier.

But the editorial points out that vaccines aren’t the only effective weapon against COVID-19. Natural immunity is as well.

The editorial argues that those employees who have natural antibodies against COVID should be exempted from any vaccine requirements.
