Nancy Pelosi Wants The Establishment To Take Back GOP In A Coup

(PresidentialInsider.com)- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued an urgent warning Monday about Republican Party leaders’ risks to democracy, urging moderate Republicans to recapture the party and usher in a new age of bipartisanship.
Pelosi barely referenced former US President Donald Trump by name during the annual Senator Barbara Boxer Lecture at UC Berkeley. Still, she was harshly critical of the Republican leader and others in the emerging right-wing movement. According to Pelosi, authoritarian and dictatorial policies have diminished voting rights and harmed the nation’s standard democratic norms.
Pelosi was hoping there were a few Republicans at the lecture to hear her implore, “Reclaim your party!”
She told the crowd that the country needs a robust Republican Party, not one that has been hijacked as a cult.
She said It’s not about party. It’s about patriotism for our nation, to guarantee that those running for government are there to safeguard our democracy.
Pelosi tied the United States’ efforts to safeguard democracy to the growing problems that democratic countries throughout the globe are facing, particularly Ukraine’s defense against an unwarranted Russian attack.
The Speaker of the House said that the people of Ukraine are fighting for their democracy, but they’re fighting for everyone’s democracy in the process. It’s a battle against authoritarianism, and we owe them a debt of gratitude. We have to fight it here while they’re fighting that battle — and elections are an excellent opportunity to accomplish that.
The Boxer Lecture, which took place for the first time in 2017, focuses on women in leadership. The UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and the Bancroft Library co-sponsor the yearly event.
Before retiring in 2017, Boxer spent ten years in the House of Representatives and 24 years in the Senate, developing a solid record as a champion for children, families, voting rights, and the environment.
Pelosi is one of the most powerful and influential women in American politics, if not the most powerful. She had served as the Democratic Party leader in the House for 19 years, serving as speaker from 2007 to 2011 and again since 2019, while also acting as minority leader during the years when Democrats were in the minority. She was the first woman to hold such positions of power in history.
In one of the most ridiculously histrionic moments, Boxer told Pelosi that a miracle occurred because the Speaker ensured the presidential election’s certification proceeded. If she hadn’t done that, we wouldn’t be where we are now. She said that this is how democracy was rescued.
Does anyone honestly believe that Democracy was in peril?
