(PresidentialInsider.com)- Mitt Romney, the failed Republican presidential nominee in 2012 who voted to convict former President Donald Trump in the Democrats’ partisan impeachment trials, reportedly had secret meetings with reporters from the Washington Post in which he smeared former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Reports suggest that Senator Romney, the Republican legislator for Utah who is expected to lose in the Republican primary if he seeks reelection, met with Carol Leonnig and Phil Rucker to contribute to an anti-Trump book titled “I Alone Can Fix It.”
Romney’s contribution to the book focused on his theories about former President Donald Trump, and conversations he had with him. Unsurprisingly, Romney didn’t talk about his U-turn in seeking a position in the Trump administration after slamming him during the 2016 Republican primaries, but instead focused on former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani who served as Trump’s personal lawyer. He claimed that he did not understand why Giuliani would risk his reputation to help the former president.
If he’s so confused…why doesn’t he consider the possibility that Giuliani genuinely believes in protecting American democracy? Why else would Giuliani put his reputation on the line to fight an historic legal battle over evidence that the 2020 presidential election was impacted by fraud and misconduct?
The new book claims that Giuliani “disgusted Romney,” adding that the pair were rivals in the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, both being beaten by the late Senator John McCain. The book also claims that Romney said Giuliani has “such a fine history” as a mayor, and that he found his participation in the election integrity trials as “virtually incomprehensible.”
Why is it so hard for Senator Romney to accept that the American people support President Donald Trump, and that Democrats may have willingly ignored election fraud?
It says more about his character than Rudy Giuliani’s…
