Core Moral Values of Americans

(PresidentialInsider.com) – When people think of American values, many come to mind. The Founders built the country on the ideas of freedom, self-governance, self-reliance, individualism, and progress. Other values are equally important; they’re the core moral values that make the USA such an incredible country.

Family First

Americans very much believe their families come before anything else. We’re a protective bunch and will do anything within our power to protect the ones we love. More than that, people in the US recognize the importance of instilling those values in their children to ensure they grow up to be successful, productive members of society.

Work Hard

The saying, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime,” is one that American citizens take very seriously. They firmly believe in working for what they have.

They will accept help if they need it, but many don’t believe in taking something they can work for themselves.

Help Neighbors

Helping their neighbors and communities is another core value that Americans hold dear. It doesn’t matter if that helpfulness comes in the form of lending a cup of sugar or helping build a brand new home for someone less fortunate. Both are meaningful.

These acts of kindness can make a community feel like a big family, which then makes it a safer place for everyone to live.

Acceptance

The US is often described as a “melting pot.” That’s because it’s been a welcoming place for people worldwide since the Founding Fathers decided to break away from the Crown. It doesn’t matter where someone comes from or who they are (with some exceptions), they’re accepted in America.

Patriotism

Last, but certainly not least, is patriotism. The love the American people have for their country is passed on from generation to generation. That isn’t necessarily unique to the USA, but it does feel different.

That love is what propels the US to become better and more incredible each day. It’s what brings her people together to love their families and one another.

People often think the “great American experiment” is the idea that a country can govern itself. Still, it’s the love, respect, and helpfulness that this country’s people show one another every day that makes it so incredible.
