Chinese Angry Over Trump’s Decision to Close Chinese Consulate in Houston, Texas

( The Chinese government is angry at President Trump, but what else is new? It comes after the president decided to close the Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas, in what the Chinese described as an “unprecedented escalation.” The Trump administration ordered the closure of the consulate over privacy concerns, as the communist nation continues its campaign to spread disinformation about its response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said that the country would “react with firm countermeasures” following the decision to close the consulate if it is not reversed. The Chinese government says that it is a “political provocation unilaterally launched by the U.S. side, which seriously violates international law, basic norms governing international relations and the bilateral consular agreement between China and the U.S.”

Something tells me the Trump administration doesn’t really care.

Chinese officials also accused the U.S. government of directing “unwarranted attacks” against the country and its social system, as well as “harassing” Chinese consular and diplomatic staff.

A spokesperson for the United States Department of State that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo enforced the decision in order to “protect American intellectual property and Americans’ private information.”

“The United States will not tolerate China’s violations of our sovereignty and intimidation of our people, just as we have not tolerated its unfair trade practices, theft of American jobs, and other egregious behavior,” Morgan Ortagus said. “President Trump insists on fairness and reciprocity in U.S.-China relations.”

Following the order closing down the consulate, video footage caught Chinese officials taking documents from the building and burning them.

If there is nothing to hide, then why are Chinese officials burning documents? What don’t they want the American government to find?

Closer footage shows people outside the consulate attempting to put out flames on open containers that contain documents and various paper and files.

Do you believe the Chinese government?
