In a Twitter thread last Tuesday, the Republican National Committee compiled a comprehensive list of “21 made-up stories” Joe Biden has told about himself since he became president that makes lying Congressman George Santos look like an amateur by comparison.
Many of the lies compiled are tall tales old Joe has been telling since long before he was elected president, including his lie about how he used to drive an 18-wheeler and his claim that he discussed reaching a milestone in Amtrak travel with a long-dead conductor.
In the thread, the RNC also included links to fact-checks debunking the lies, including the PolitiFact report debunking his “I used to drive a tractor-trailer” lie. Another tall tale the RNC lists is Biden’s claim that he once spoke with the inventor of Insulin.
But two of the people credited with inventing artificial Insulin died before Biden was born and no evidence exists that he had any contact with the others. The RNC also cited Biden’s oft-repeated exaggerations about the small kitchen fire that broke out in his Delaware home in 2004 that, according to reports from the time, took firefighters about 20 minutes to contain and never spread to the rest of the house. Over the years, that fire has grown ever larger with each Biden retelling.
Last fall, during a White House event on fire prevention, Joe added a new facet to the fiction, claiming that two firefighters nearly lost their lives battling the small fire.
Greg Price on Twitter: “Joe Biden just claimed today that “we almost lost a couple firefighters” when lightning struck his home 15 years ago. According to a report from the time, the lighting strike caused “a small fire contained to the kitchen” that “was under control in 20 minutes.” https://t.co/9EvWGeIs6H” / Twitter
The RNC’s list also includes Biden’s claim that he visited the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh after the 2018 mass shooting. However, there is no record of such a visit. It also includes Biden’s claim that he served as a liaison between Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meier and the Egyptian government during the 1967 Six Day War. Only Golda Meier wasn’t the prime minister until 1968andJoe Biden was a law student at Syracuse University at the time.
And that’s just a handful of the lies Joe Biden has told about his biography. Check out the wholethreadto see them all.
