Biden Claims He Attended Black Delaware Church…But Members Don’t Remember Him

(PresidentialInsider.com)- In an attempt to claw back support from Black Americans who are turning to President Donald Trump in growing numbers, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden claimed recently that he was a regular attendee of a black church in Wilmington, Delaware. He also said that he spent his teenage years engaging with the civil rights movement in the area, and organized sessions at the church.

It’s a good story, but it might not be true.

Veteran members of the Union Baptist Church responded by saying that they have no recollection of Biden attending the church when he was a teenager. Some even said that Biden only met the pastor of the church, Rev. Otis Herring, as an adult.

Phyllis Drummond, who served as an assistant to Herring for many years, said that Biden was simply not an attendee of the church.

“No. Not at our building. I think he was probably in Claymont or in Pennsylvania then,” she said, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

Another veteran member of the church, Juanita Matthew, said that she doesn’t have any memory of the former vice president attending the church when he was a teenager. Biden met Herring, according to Matthew, only after Biden’s wife and daughter were tragically killed in a 1972 car accident.

The New York Post reported how last January, Biden said at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in South Carolina that when he was a teenager living in Delaware, he got involved with the civil rights movement.

“I’d go to 8 o’clock Mass, then I’d go to Reverend Herring’s church where we’d meet in order to organize and figure where we were going to go, whether we were going to desegregate the Rialto movie theatre or what we were going to do,” he claimed in the speech. “I got my education, for real, in the black church, and that’s not hyperbole, it’s fact.”

But is it?

If it turns out he’s lying about this, then it wouldn’t be the first time. The former vice president once said that he was arrested in South Africa when he visited Nelson Mandela in the 1970s, but as it turned out, he didn’t. And he admitted it.

Is telling lies about his past a habit for Joe Biden?
