(PresidentialInsider.com)- The fate of Roe V. Wade, and the “right” of women across the United States to access abortions, could rest in the hands of Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh – both nominated by former President Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, Mississippi is expected to ask the Supreme Court to overturn Roe V. Wade, the law that has been in place for some 50 years. All nine justices on the court will hear arguments on whether the legislation is constitutional.
It comes as part of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization suit, and many legal scholars have argued that Trump-appointed Justices Barrett and Kavanaugh will ultimately be the ones with the casting votes on the decision.
The case relates to a 2018 Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks – a law that would presumably be a fair compromise between pro-abortion and pro-life activists. Instead, though, left-wing activists have relentlessly attacked the law as an infringement of women’s rights.
Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the only abortion provider in Mississippi, has been fighting the law ever since, suing Mississippi and successfully convincing the lower courts to strike down the law as constitutional.
However, the 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court could soon see this overturned, and if it does, you know the Democrats are going to lose their collective minds…and if they do, it might not be long until President Joe Biden lays out his plans to pack or “reform” the Supreme Court.
Wednesday will be a big day.
